“I loved how chill this race was. Everyone was super friendly, the scenery was beautiful and it was the antithesis to so many amped up races you could do. Plus pie!”
Hungry Bear Partner
“We were partners, not riders. Heard rave reviews from our lodging guests and bike shop customers. Well done! Race day, we rode Rock Lake backwards, toward the racers, all were smiling!”
Hungry Bear Racer
“This is such a wonderful event. I hope it doesn't lose it's charm as it grows in popularity!! The relaxed vibe is part of that. I love the people, the pie, the pizza, hanging out on the patio after the race. I love the course. It's such a great event.”
Whether you have the hankering to ride the Hungry Bear 100, Snacking Bear 60, or the Climbing Cub, all routes will serve up a challenge and give you a taste of the fortified gravel we have in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. From smooth rolling forest roads to steep descents littered with bumpy baby heads to eroded logging tracks, the three routes are a smorgasbord of million-year-old table scraps left over from the last glacial period.

More Than Just A Race
The Spirit of the Hungry Bear is all about community and inclusivity. Unlike traditional races, it's a celebration of achievement and camaraderie. While we honor top finishers, the event's atmosphere feels more like a family reunion than a typical race. We provide essential support, guidance, and, most importantly, a great deal of fun. The Hungry Bear isn't just an event – it's a movement that enriches both the cycling community and the world at large.
